Stylishly Simple - for Birthday Wishes Challenge

This weekend I gathered my supplies and enlisted the help of a couple of friends to make cards for Stampin' Up! UK's Birthday Wishes Challenge.

The cards are simple and fun to put together, but at the same time they are bold and striking.  The focus is on the stylish In Color paper with a simple stamped birthday sentiment.

Stampin' Up! UK set demonstrators a challenge, to make 10,000 cards across two card-making weekends, to mark their 10th anniversary in the UK.  The cards will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  The charity provides free 'home away from home' accommodation to families who have a child in hospital. There are 14 Ronald McDonald Houses across the UK, all located close to specialist children's hospitals. The Houses are open 365 days a year and are equipped with everything you would find in a family home. Families can get a good night’s sleep, prepare their own meals and feel at home, knowing that they are only moments away from their child (http://www.rmhc.org.uk/what-we-do/).

These are all the finished cards.  Stampin' Up! has a long history of supporting philanthropic causes, and I am glad to have participated in this challenge and helped in a small way.  Altogether we created 122 cards to send off to the charity.

The card below combines Berry Burst with a Big on Birthdays greeting.

Another Big on Birthdays greeting on a Tranquil Tide background and a hint of Lemon Lime Twist.

The next card features a Fresh Fig background and stamping with a little colouring and a hint of sparkle from my Wink of Stella pen.

The final card uses images from the wonderful Window Shopping stamp set and I copied the design from my wonderful team leader.  Thanks, Bekka!  On this little notecard, I've used Lemon Lime Twist for the sentiment, Berry Burst for the flowers and the backgroung layer and the leaves are in Old Olive.

Now I am looking forward to the Christmas Cheer Challenge which will take place during the first weekend in December!

Thank you for visiting today.  Happy crafting,

Fast and Fabulous Happy Birthday

I love crafting.  It makes me happy and I love creating something special from simple ingredients.  Now that could be a refreshing lemon drizzle tray bake cake, which always goes down well with my work colleagues, or a batch of chocolate chip cookies, which always go down well at home!  Or the ingredients might be of the paper and ink variety to make a fun card.

Today's card is fast and fabulous.  It is quick to assemble, yet still striking.  The bold colours and simple layout have impact.  I'm sure that I will recreate this card with a different palette.

The Happy Birthday Gorgeous bundle is the star of the show with the circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits acting as the perfect foil.  The large die cut words are amazing, and so easy to adhere to the card when used with the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets (apply the adhesive to the card stock, die cut the words, peel and stick. Easy Peasy!).  The floating balloon and stamped words emphasise that special birthday message.

Thanks for visiting to day.  Happy Crafting,

Wheely missing you, for Global Design Project #091

Today's fun card is made with the Global Design Project's current Theme Challenge in mind.  The theme is Wheels.

Back in April, I attended the fabulous Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Amsterdam.  The event is just for demonstrators.  We all get very excited to be the first to see new products showcased and we even get to make cards using some of them.  One of this year's presentations was by a Dutch demonstrator, called Danielle Bennenk, who showed us some wonderful projects using the new Bike Ride stamp set.  There are so many bikes in Amsterdam, I am sure it was no coincidence that a Dutch demonstrator was asked to showcase this particular set!  At the end of the presentation we were all delighted to receive our very own set of Bike Ride stamps.  Confession time: this is the first time that I have used my set - but when I saw this theme challenge, I just knew it was time to get it out!

http://www.global-design-project.com/2017/06/global-design-project-091-theme.html

To begin with, I created the "watercoloured" background using the largest clear block, some ink and some water.  My first attempt wasn't that brilliant so I tried again, and, after a little experimentation, I made a background that I was happy with.

I used my biggest (F) clear block and pressed an ink pad directly onto it - Pear Pizzazz for the grass and Soft Sky for the sky.  Then I spritzed water liberally onto the ink covered block and "stamped" it onto Shimmery White cardstock.  I'm really pleased with how this looks.

I've used the beautiful tree from the Sheltering Tree stamp set as the backdrop to my picket fence; there are even small clumps of flowers around its base.  The Crumb Cake picket fence is created simply by stamping the Hardwood background stamp, using Crumb Cake ink, and then punching out planks with the Classic Label punch.

There is a coordinating framelit set available for these stamps, which can be bought together for a bundle saving 10% discount.  My framelits are arriving in my next order, so for this card I have done lots of therapeutic fussy cutting!   Once assembled, the bike leans up against the fence and the cute dog sits on the back of it, waiting patiently.  The cute words are created using the Labeler Alphabet set.

Thanks for visiting today.  Happy crafting,
