Butterfly Trio: Global Design Project #GDP085

Wow! How time flies.  It seems only yesterday that we were excited about the arrival of the new set of In Colors for 2015-2017.  These colours will be retiring at the end of May to make room for a new set of colours that will fuel our creativity for the next two years.

The Global Design Project challenge this week is to be creative using your favourite three retiring colours.  I have chosen to use Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder for my project.

The inspiration for my project came from a wall hanging that I made in a class several years ago.  The original piece has three small wooden frames that hang one under another and each displays a single flower.  The frames in today's hanging are made from Tip Top Taupe card, which has been stamped with the Hardwood stamp to create a faux wooden frame.

Each frame displays a single butterfly which has been stamped in either Mint Macaron or Watermelon Wonder on to Shimmery White card.  A delicate die cut vellum butterfly adds some texture and the butterflies are finished off with Metal Rimmed Pearls for their bodies with a little twist of metallic thread behind.

Each butterfly is mounted onto a square of stamped Shimmery White card and a coordinating scalloped square.  The composition is completed with a sentiment written using the Labeller Alphabet stamps.  And here it is, ready to hang.  Inspire, Create, Share...

Where do you take inspiration from?
